Football for the Disabled
One of the most rewarding experiences for the staff was the volunteer work with the Sporting Wheelies and Disabled association, Special `O`s and Gold Coast Sport and Rec ( intellectually disabled athletes).
Through this opportunity the players were able to enjoy our particular brand of Football on a more regular basis.
We all feel we have problems as abled bodied athletes, in fact our issues pale into insignificance compared to the intellectual and physical handicaps some of the players in this program have to deal with on a daily basis. It is so refreshing to see these players giving their all and putting aside their disabilities to listen, learn and have fun.These athletes have a passion and a love for the game we can all gain inspiration from!
