Ticket prices slashed for final two home games

GOLD Coast United owner Clive Palmer has slashed ticket prices for the crunch matches against Adelaide United next Wednesday evening (2 February) and Central Coast Mariners on Wednesday 9 February, with fans now able to enjoy the do-or-die games from as little as $15.00 with all children’s tickets just $5.00.

The new prices make it more affordable than ever for the Gold Coast community to support their team in the exciting run towards the Finals Series, with over a 50% reduction on several ticket categories for what will be vital matches for Miron Bleiberg’s men. The northern, western and eastern stands will be opened for both games giving supporters a wide choice of excellent seats.

United CEO Clive Mensink said the club wanted to give as many fans as possible the opportunity to come along and support their local team, with Gold Coast very much in the running for silverware this season.

“The great success of the free-entry game against Newcastle recently was incredibly infectious,” Mr Mensink said.

“The goodwill shown by the community and the atmosphere generated at the game were fantastic and certainly helped the team, so when the board met on Monday morning we decided we would adjust ticket prices for our last two home fixtures of the season.

“We also recognised that with children heading back to school this time of year can be an expensive period for many families. We wanted to make supporting the team as affordable as possible and we are confident that these new prices will do exactly that.

“The last two games of the season are sure to be tense and exciting, which is what sport is all about. We want everyone to come along and help their local team make this season a successful one.”

Gold Coast United vice-captain, Michael Thwaite, said the support the team received from the near 15,000 crowd in the 5-1 thrashing of Newcastle Jets was a real 12th man for the players.

“It was amazing and it gave us all that extra bit of energy we needed to really take the game to our opponents,” he said.

“You can’t measure how important it is to the players and what a difference it can make. We have two very important home games left before the finals and the Gold Coast community can really play their part in helping us to make this season a great success.”
