RSJPL/QSL REPORT - 18.4.10

Sun Apr 18 2010

The Under 12's won 3-2 after trailling 1-2 at halftime.  In a close game the boys rallied in the second half with our three goals coming from Alex Faulkiner, Jamie Charlton & Kai Judd.

The Under 13 Boys ran out 5-1 winners after leading 4-1 at half time.  In a polished display Gold Coast showed great flair & committment and were deserving winners.  Goal scorers Bran Little (2) Dakota Askew, Declan Lawson & Benji Lyviokos.

The Under 14's  were unluckly not to get something out of their game when they went down 1-0.  The game was evenly poised throughout and both teams played with a high degree of skill that was a pleasure to watch.  Luke Hilan almost gained us a point when his free kick from just outside the box hit the underside of the bar and bounced back into play.  Two earlier efforts hit the woodwork and although the boys were narrowly defeated the game was a great advertisment for the Rebel Sports progam.

The Under 15 Boys played the last game of the day.

The boys  started strongly and were in complete control of the game  when Ben Scanlan scored from a cracking shot in the 14th minute. The boys kept up the pressure and were rewarded with a own goal from the defender No 11 who diverted the ball  leaving his keeper flat footed. With the score 2-0 at halftime the boys were expecting it to be  even easier as they had the wind behind them running towards the clubhouse end. The Rochedale coach had however given his boys some guidance and the Rochedale boys started putting the Gold Coast under enormous pressure. Two superb saves from keeper Indy Schoen one after the other kept his team in the game and they hung on to record a 2-0 win

Our Under 14 Girls played Brisbane Silver and after leading 2-1 at half time they conceded a second half goal to draw 2-2.  The game was played in great spirit.  Gold Coast goal scorers Lucy Iona and Teleya Reynolds.

The Under 16 Girls also had a hard game against the highly fancied Brisbane Silver.  With the score locked at 1-1 at half time our girls showed great determination to grab the winner in the second half.  Final score 2-1 with goals fro Gold Coast by Harriet Withers and Haley Raso.

The Under 19 QSL Youth team played Bundaberg in their match with the visitors proving too strong to run out 4-1 winners.  The boys are improving with every match under the astute guidance of coach Graeme Hayward and a second win shouldn't be too far away.  Goalscorer for Gold Coast Dakota Dixon-King.

We'd like to thank, Nerang for their hospitality and support in hosting this round of the RSJPL and QSYL.  The day was well organised and the facilities and pitches were well recived by all who participated.  Nerang have also donated half of the profits from their canteen and bar takings on the day to GCSI for the RSJPL program.
