The career path for referees begins with a Level 3 (non-active) Knowledge Course which consists of Part 1 and Part 2, followed by a practical component. Initially, you will be given an electronic copy of the Futsal Laws of the Game 2010/2011 and some course homework questions. Course material will be given to you on the day of the course which includes a FIFA DVD, and a workbook. Each course is run over 2 days or 4 nights and a fitness test is required to be completed by all participants. There is no 'fail' for this fitness test.

Part 1 is the theory component and is required to be sat by everyone who wishes to become a referee.
** For those people who have previously sat the Futsal Referees course, you will be required to sit Part 1 as there has been major amendments to the Futsal Laws of the Game for 2010 and Part 1 will cover all of these changes.**

Part 2 is the Basic Officiating component which comprises of the practical topics. If you have previously sat the Futsal Referees course and can provide your completed workbooks then you may be exempt from this part. If you are a Football Referee you may be exempt from certain components within this Part. All referees who wish to officiate upon completion of the course will be required to sit the Part 2 component.

This is a competency based training accreditation program. Most units have specified competencies that participants need to display to complete the units. There is also an examination at the end of Part 1. The paper will be marked on the day. It should be noted that the FIFA Laws to be covered and examined are those used in all matches including international matches. Should an applicant fail the exam they will be permitted to re-sit the exam at a later date.

Level 3 practical will deal with foul recognition, some aspects related to local competitions, what is expected of a referee as a part of the referee team, our code of ethics and practical field exercises demonstrating the positioning, signals and whistling techniques of the referee.

Please note that lunch is provided but specific food requirements may not be catered for. Please advise the Administrator if you have any specific dietary requirements.

At the completion of the Level 3 course, applicants who decide to register as an active referee will have to complete a field test (practical test) where practical on a match will occur after registration, a field test will be organised on a competition match with two referees in a Referee, Second Referee and Time Keeper / Third Referee capacity at a pre-designated time.

It should be noted that all active referees over 18 years of age will require to meet the CCYPG Requirements for a Blue Card. If you already hold a current Blue Card you will have to physically present it at the time of registration to confirm that your card is valid and current.

Course applicants may be 12 years at the time of starting a course but should be turning 13 years by the time the active season has begun to allow them to referee junior games. In general, referees 18 years and under will be appointed to games where the age grouping of the players is two (2) years below the chronological age of the referee. However, this may change at times depending on the experience and rating of each individual referee at the discretion of the Referees Association.
