A COMFORTABLE 3-0 win for Gold Coast Knights extended their 100% record to four matches and increased their lead at the top of the Gold Coast Premier League to three points.

John Stewart’s men are yet to concede a goal so far this season and they met little resistance from a Mudgeeraba side that has now conceded 21 goals in four games.

It’s shaping as a long season for the Anthony Roche-led side and their only comfort can be found in the fact that 11th-placed Tweed Valley are only three points ahead of them.

Tweed went down 1-0 to fellow strugglers Nerang who registered their first points of the season in the process.

Outright second place on the ladder belongs to Palm Beach after their resounding 4-1 demolition of Broadbeach United on Sunday. Palm Beach look to have put last year’s woes behind them and their fans have every reason to be optimistic for the season ahead with goalscoring seemingly the least of their worries.

Burleigh Heads finally hit some form thanks to a 4-3 home win over hot-and-cold Southport and have begun what they hope will be a march up the ladder towards the finals places. Col Phelan’s outfit will are expected to be amongst the leading pack and this result may just be the confidence-booster they need.

Magic United threw away a two-goal lead against battling Surfers Paradise with the match ending all square courtesy of a Jason Haines double for Surfers. Magic still hold third place but Brett Budwee will be disappointed that his side could not hold on for all three points.

Coomera’s Chris Broadfoot struck the vital blow in their head-to-head with Musgrave with his first-half spot kick enough to separate the two sides and secure a vital victory for Coomera that keeps then in touch with the pack.

Ladder: Gold Coast Knights 12, Palm Beach 9, Magic Utd 7, Southport 7, Coomera 7, Broadbeach Utd 7, Musgrave 6, Surfers Paradise 4, Burleigh Heads 4, Nerang 3, Tweed Valley 3, Mudgeeraba 0.
