The Gold Coast Representative Squad have dominated the draw at this past weekend’s ‘Three Cities Futsal Challenge played at Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium.
The Gold Coast finished the tournament with three wins from four matches against visiting teams from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
In what was seen as a first class litmus test of the futsal events planned for the coming season, the competition coordinator, Armando Cacace hailed the event an outstanding success.
Top Brazilian import Gabrielle Revrioldo was deemed player of the Tournament for the blue and golds after scoring for the home side in all three matches.
Revrioldo has settled into his target role with the team proving his ball skill finesse may well result further wins this coming season for his side.
With explosive type flankers such as Claudio Mana and Dennis supporting his role, the coast looks set for an impressive season.
The Gold Coast team is coached by Andre Rodriguez, who, having played senior club football in Brazil for San Pauolo is moulding a team high in offensive talent.
Much of that talent was on show over the weekend with Gold Coast netting 27 goals in just four matches.
“It was an excellent first warm up tournament for the coming season, considering many of the players had not played in the same team together before this weekend” Rodriguez said.
The coach was a little concerned with the only loss for the weekend saying “There were a few lapses in concentration which attributed to us losing the third match to Sunshine Coast but overall I am pleased with the weekend’s result.”
The Gold Coast Reps, will now travel to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast in future weeks for the return leg of the competition whilst the new Futsal Season 09/10 kicks off 1st October 2009
