THE Gold Coast Premier League has a new leader following this weekend’s fixtures, with trail-blazers Gold Coast Knights going down 4-1 to a rampant Coomera.
The Knights’ defeat opened the door for Broadbeach to leapfrog them into top spot thanks to their fourth win on the bounce, this time a 3-2 triumph over Surfers Paradise.
Palm Beach also took advantage of the Knights’ slip up by smashing Tweed Valley 4-1, a victory that takes them level on points with the reigning Premiers.
Coomera hold fourth spot thanks to their dramatic success, but they share the same points total as both Musgrave and Burleigh Heads who both recorded wins against Magic United and Nerang respectively.
The ladder is already divided into two halves with Burleigh holding a six-point gap on seventh-placed Magic United who, along with the rest of the lower half, have much to do in order to contend for the finals spots.
Aside from a change in leadership, the other big news from the weekend’s fixtures was Mudgeeraba’s first win of the campaign, a 2-1 victory over newcomers Southport whose form slide continues.
Ladder: Broadbeach Utd 19, Gold Coast Knights 18, Palm Beach 18, Coomera 16, Musgrave 16, Burleigh Heads 16, Magic Utd 10, Southport 8, Surfers Paradise 7, Tweed Valley Kings 6, Nerang 3, Mudgeeraba 3.
