BROADBEACH United will fancy their chances of keeping the pressure on league leaders Gold Coast Knights when they face Surfers Paradise at Lex Bell Oval on Saturday night.
United have won their last three and this rich vein of form could spell danger for Keith Garland’s Surfers outfit who have lost the winning touch in the last two rounds.
Not far behind Broadbeach are Palm Beach who have themselves recorded back-to-back triumphs. The Sharks visit a Tweed Valley side who have already lost five times this season and lie third from bottom on the ladder.
A massive form reversal is required if Tweed are to take points from the Sharks and climb away from the relegation zone, so expect a gritty encounter.
Nerang host Burleigh Heads on Friday night and their season of misery could continue against Col Phelan’s men. Burleigh are in hot touch at the moment and scoring goals for fun.
Southport will be nervous that they could end up as Mudgeeraba’s first victims of the season when they visit Sid Bigg Park on Saturday afternoon. Having lost their last two it could be another tricky night for Southport who will be mindful of some improved performances from Mudgeeraba of late, despite being pinned to the bottom of the ladder.
Magic United’s quest for a fourth win of the campaign will be a tough one with Musgrave the visitors to Carrara Stadium. Musgrave are well positioned to mount a solid claim for a finals place so Magic will need to be on top of their game to take any points.
Coomera host Gold Coast Knights on Sunday at Viney Park in what could be a terrific battle. There will be plenty of talent on the field for this showdown and Coomera will feel confident they can push the league leaders all the way to the final whistle.
Ladder: Gold Coast Knights 18, Broadbeach Utd 16, Palm Beach 15, Musgrave 13, Coomera 13, Burleigh Heads 13, Magic Utd 10, Southport 8, Surfers Paradise 7, Tweed Valley Kings 6, Nerang 3, Mudgeeraba 0.
