Broadbeach Utd 2
Coomera 5
Magic United 1
Palm Beach 0
Burleigh Heads 4
Tweed Valley Kings 2
Gold Coast Knights 0

Musgrave 1

BURLEIGH Heads’ emphatic 4-0 win over rivals Palm Beach could be the sign that last year’s Grand Final winners are finally over their early season jitters.
It was a well-deserved victory for Col Phelan’s men who had some great early chances before the goals started flying in after half-time. Burleigh still have work to do if they are to close in on league leaders Gold Coast Knights, but back-to-back wins will give them much needed momentum.
Palm Beach on the other hand will be kicking themselves for missing the chance to draw level with the Knights, whose shock loss to Tweed Valley was their first reversal of the campaign.
Coming off two consecutive losses Tweed were at long odds to get all three points against a Knights outfit who had not even conceded a goal, but Ben Waldron and Boe Hayes grabbed the headlines to record a famous win for the newly-promoted club.
Broadbeach’s hot and cold form continued with a narrow victory over bottom-of-the-ladder Mudgeeraba thanks to a double from Nori Uchimura. Broadbeach moved into third place as a result, but it’s Coomera who now occupy second spot courtesy of their 5-1 destruction of Magic United.
Morgan Zeeno and Jonny Griffin grabbed two each with Chris Broadfoot also chiming in with a goal to compound the misery for Brett Budwee’s Magic.
Surfers Paradise disposed of Nerang by five goals to three with Jason Haynes netting another hat-trick for Keith Garland’s side who are now unbeaten in their last three outings.
Premier League newcomers Southport continued their solid start to the season with a creditable 1-1 draw against Musgrave. The point keeps Southport on the periphery of the finals places and early indicators point to a decent season ahead.
Ladder: Gold Coast Knights 12, Coomera 10, Broadbeach Utd 10, Palm Beach 9, Southport 8, Surfers Paradise 7, Burleigh Heads 7, Magic Utd 7, Musgrave 7, Tweed Valley 6, Nerang 3, Mudgeeraba 0.
